Calling all yoga lovers! Join us every Tuesday for Gentle Flow Yoga with Joe’s Executive Director, Brooke Kidd. Reserve your space today!

 

Brooke Kidd, Executive Director and Founder of World Arts Focus, negotiates all contracts, supervises program leadership, attends to final reporting requirements with Joe’s Movement Emporium program managers, and provides program leadership. Ms. Kidd is a dance artist, choreographer, and instructor. She received her B.A. in International Relations and Dance, Anthropology, and African Studies, and an M.A. in Dance with the thesis “Revitalizing Community through Dance” from American University. For more than 20 years Ms. Kidd has designed dance programs to engage the community, produced large-scale performances, and presented work in the region. She received the Alan Kriegsman Award from Dance Metro DC for lifetime achievement and an Individual Artist Award in choreography from the Maryland State Arts Council. Most recently, Ms. Kidd was selected as the 2015 Maryland State Arts Advocate of the Year by Maryland Citizens for the Arts.

Jasmina Rae is a Senior and has been belly dancing for over 15 years. This ancient, healing dance was done by women in the temples of Egypt to honor the Goddesses, and throughout generations, women have passed down this ancient art form to other women. Belly dance is all about you re‑discovering and re-connecting to your Goddess, Divine Self.  She can attest to the health benefits of belly dance on the aging body. Her class is suitable for Seniors, new dancers, and anyone who wants to Move like a Goddess. You will learn gentle belly dance movements that will help you open a portal for self-expression, strengthen your core, correct posture, improve flexibility and balance, and so much more. Come dance with Jasmina Rae and have fun moving to traditional and contemporary music. Before the pandemic, Jasmina Rae performed at various venues with Troupe Malkia, a choreography group under the umbrella of Sacred Hips in Motion, and “Shimmy Pop,” an urban fusion group under the tutelage of Ebony Qualls.
